Who do they REALLY benefit? Certainly Not You.

Ask yourself this: Top 100 what?
The answer is, it's the top 100 of all the sites that participate in that particular "Top 100" scam. It has nothing to do with the top sites in terms of visitors, content, value or actual popularity. It is smoke and mirrors.
Many sites that are not part of a "Top 100" scheme receive hundreds or thousands of times the number of visitors of the "top" site of a survey. Most of the sites that have significant traffic do not participate in these surveys. Why is this?
The "Top 100" sites are trying to steal your traffic, plain and simple, and try to sell product to YOUR visitors. The more sites that participate in a "top 100" scam, the more hits the "top 100" site itself receives.
The "Top 100" sites use YOUR traffic to increase THEIR traffic. What you are doing is pushing your visitors off your site onto THEIR front page where they are bombarded with ads to buy something.
Who benefits? The owners of the Top-100 sites, no one else. As the site owner, you lose.
While it appears the "Top 100" is designed to drive traffic to your site, it is actually designed to drive YOUR traffic to their site. Posting a "Top 100 - vote" banner on your site is doing the exact opposite of what you want to do - you're driving traffic OFF your site and on to someone else's site. You have sent the people who came to visit you somewhere else.
Top 100 scams are useless and are never in your best interest. You will benefit far more from an aggressive program of reciprocal links than from any "Top 100" scam.
